The Florida Keys hold many treasures for the traveler, especially on your bicycle. The islands offer a tropical blend of Caribbean blue waters, tropical foliage and stunning sunsets. The vacation will allow you to relax in a hammock, enjoy beautiful sunsets and take home amazing photos. Come enjoy a relaxing vacation with us.

 

Day 1, Saturday

Check into the hotel throughout the day. Enjoy snorkeling or scuba at nearby John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the "Dive Capital of the World" and a National Marine Sanctuary. In the evening meet new friends during the Welcome Dinner and Get Together.

Menu Selection (based on 2011 trip):

  • Captains Seafood Platter – Stuffed jumbo shrimp, broiled jumbo shrimp, broiled sea scallops, grilled mahi-mahi and a homemade crabcake. Served with Coconut Steamed Rice.
  • Double "Krab" Krabcake – A pair of 4 oz krabcakes topped with krabmeat flamed in Myers Platinum rum, lime juice & sweet butter.
  • "Keyribbean" Chicken Breast – A boneless jumbo chicken breast grilled on an open flame with a Key Lime glaze. Served with Mango Salsa and Garlic – Rosemary Chef Potatoes and House Vegetables.
  • Vegetarian Option: Rasta Pasta Primavera – Linguini tossed with garden vegetables in olive oil and fresh garlic.
  • + all entrees are served with fresh baked bread and a house salad or soup.

Day 2, Sunday

 

 

 

Start your vacation from Key Largo and ride to Long Key, riding to the mid-point of the Florida Keys.  The hotel is next to a 65 acre protected area of historic sites, wild flowers and tropical trees. Dinner with the group. [32 miles]

  • Pork specially prepared, a Habanos Favorite
  • Scallops and Shrimp
  • + Salad and Desert

Day 3, Monday

 

 

 

 
Ride from Long Key to Marathon. Smell the aroma of the Mangrove Forests. Visit and swim on the white sandy beaches of Sombrero Beach. Breakfast and dinner with the group.

Breakfast:  Coffee, toast, oatmeal, bananas and yogurt.

Menu Selection (based on 2011 trip): 

  • Chicken Marsala - sauted with mushrooms, shallots & marsala wine
  • Pasta Primavera - with fresh vegetables with herb garlic sauce over pasta
  • Top Sirloin - 8 oz. Served with sautéed mushrooms
  • Captain Nick’s Sesame Tuna Steak - yellow fin tuna rolled in sesame seeds and pan seared rare with wasabi soy sauce and pickled ginger
  • Fresh Local Grouper - Horseradish pan seared encrusted with horseradish & herb bread crumbs, with smashed potatoes, wasabi and horseradish cream sauces.
  • All meals come with two sides – salad, potato, pasta or vegetables

Day 4, Tuesday

Gather your energy for the ride from Marathon to Key West.  Riding over 7-mile bridge, one of the greatest and most beautiful rides that you will always remember. Enter the Lower Keys and through Key Deer country.  Arrive in Key West, where "Everything Old is New Again." Enjoy the sites and unique culture of the country's southern most location, visit the palm-lined streets and discover gingerbread mansion, tin-roofed conch houses and nationally acclaimed unique restaurants and pubs. Breakfast with the group.  [49 (or 39 or 58) miles]

Day 5, Wednesday

Start the journey home leaving from Key West and heading to Marathon. Exploring and visiting the places that you missed the first time. Breakfast with the group.  [49 (or 39 or 58) miles]

Day 6, Thursday

Ride to Long Key.  Kayak, canoe or hike through Long Key State Park before celebrating with your new friends during the final dinner. Breakfast and farewell dinner with the group. [19 (or 23) miles]

Breakfast: Coffee, toast, oatmeal, bananas and yogurt.

Day 7, Friday

Ride to Key Largo to reach your vehicles for your trip home. Take a shower at the hotel before leaving Key Largo. [31 miles]

Please note all trip information is based on previous trips and/or contracted lodging and restaurants and is subject to change based on availability or specific trip needs.

Riding difficulty:
Riders who are comfortable riding at least 10 miles per hour should have a very enjoyable trip without any hills (the only "big hill" is Seven Mile Bridge).
All riders may ride at their own pace, slow or fast.  If a rider is tired or feels like riding less on any day, the SAG vehicle will transport the rider to the hotel.

Arriving by automobile:
Drive to Bayside Inn hotel, 99490 Overseas Highway, Key Largo, Florida, leaving your car at the hotel for the duration of the trip.

Arriving by Plane:
You can also fly into Miami's International Airport and take Keys Shuttle (888) 765-9997 to the Florida Keys. 

Deposit:
$200 due to reserve your spot and the remainder due 45 days before the trip start.
